Biography

Melanie Ní Dhuinn joined the School of Education in Trinity College Dublin in April 2014 as an Assistant Professor of Teacher Education. Melanie is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the School Placement modules of the Professional Master of Education (PME) course. She also holds responsibility for liasing with post-primary schools in the development of University-School Partnerships through the placement of student teachers on teaching practice placement in schools and supporting cooperating practising teachers in post-primary schools where TCD students are on placement. She teaches module components within the School Placement Professional Practice module, and on the Professional Practice Research Methods module of the Professional Master of Education, including thesis supervision. Melanie also supervises and cross moderates assessment of student teachers while on placement in post primary schools. She also works as an internal supervisor of TCD undergraduate and postgraduate education theses. Melanie previously worked as the Programme Director for the Professional Diploma in Education programme of Initial Teacher Education in Hibernia College and prior to that she was seconded through the Department of Education and Skills to Wexford Local Development as the Education Programme Manager with responsibility for the strategic and operational management and implementation of Local Community Development Programmes and National Rural Development Programmes within WLD. These include Rural Development Programme (NRDP), Wexford Education Network, Meitheal Programme, Millennium Fund for 3rd Level programme, Adult Education and Training Programme, Traveller Education Progammes, European Education Progammes, Co.Wexford School Completion Programmes. She taught Physical Education and Gaeilge as a post-primary teacher in Co. Wexford from 1993 to 2005 and also worked as a School Completion Coordinator (SCP) and a Junior Cert Schools Programme (JCSP) Coordinator.
