Professor (Dr) Monowar Alam Khalid, currently Head, Department of Environmental Science, Integral University, Lucknow is a renowned Academician, Researcher and former Director-India Regional Climate Centre of Earthwatch-UK. He is having more than 24 years of experience in research and teaching in Climate Change, Environment, Biodiversity, Disaster Management, Natural Sciences etc. He is a doctorate in Zoology from Aligarh Muslim University and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Remote Sensing from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun. Widely travelled in Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Asia, he has been invited to deliver talks and chair the sessions in various seminars/conferences in his areas of expertise. He has worked in projects funded by World Bank, Japan Bank of International Cooperation, DFID-UK, UNESCO, Asian Development Bank while working with reputed organizations in India. He has worked with institutions like Earthwatch Institute-UK, Wildlife Institute of India, West Bengal Forest Department, Fishery Survey of India, Malaria Research Centre, The Energy & Resources Institute and has contributed to academics as Deputy Director/Associate Professor and Member-Academic Council & Board of Studies at Amity University and TERI University respectively. He is an EIA Expert accredited by Quality Council of India as Functional Area Expert for Ecology & Biodiversity for hydropower projects in India. He has also served as Course Director for Indian Forest Service/State Forest Service Officers for Ministry of Environment & Forests. He has been an Examiner/Guest faculty at Bristol University-UK, Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Kashmir, Jamia Hamdard and Stratford University USA (India Campus). He was member of Gangetic Plain eco-working group for preparation of National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for India under Ministry of Environment & Forests and was instrumental in formulating the First Approved Small Scale CDM Forestry project for India, which got registered with UNFCCC. He has published a number of papers/articles in National and International Journals/Magazines and is an advisor / member in various committees and working groups.
