Biography

Mohammad Masud Rana is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Anthropology from Jahangirnagar University. Masud started his career as a research officer with a Department for International Development (DFID) funded research program on the Mining, Social Networks and Rural Livelihoods in Bangladesh. The fieldwork was carried out by researchers at Sussex University, UK and the Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. At the end of the research, he returned to Jahangirnagar University as a lecturer on 18 September 2010. Masud’s areas of interest include migration, child rights and development. He is a co-author of “Elusive Partnership: Gas Extraction and CSR in Bangladesh” in Journal of Resources Policy, UK and “Field of Dreams: Imagining Development and Un-Development at a Gas Field in Sylhet” in South Asia Multidisciplinary Academic Journal (SAMAJ), URL.
