Biography

Dr Michel Tshiyoyo completed a BCom Honours in Business Administration and Economics (Option: Public and Industrial Economy) at the Protestant University of Congo in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He furthered his studies at the University of Pretoria and obtained a Masters degree in Public Administration in 2006. He joined the School of Public Management and administration (SPMA) as a lecturer since May 2008 and completed his PhD in Public Affairs in September 2013 at the University of Pretoria. He was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer in January 2014. Dr Tshiyoyo is an active member of various professional associations that promote Public Administration and Management, namely: the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), the South African Association of Public Administration and Management (SAAPAM), the Association of Southern African Schools and Departments of Public Administration and Management (ASSADPAM), the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAAPAM), the Association of Southern African Schools and Departments of Public Administration and Management (ASSADPAM), and the South African Association of Public Administration and Management (SAAPAM). He has delivered numerous papers at local and international conferences and his articles have been published in local and international journals. Beyond teaching and learning, Dr Tshiyoyo coordinate the MAdmin and MPhil programmes; he supervises Masters’ students and he also facilitates Public Management Training programmes through the National School of Government. Dr Tshiyoyo is a peer reviewer of articles submitted for publications to the following journals: African Journal of Public Affairs, Administratio Publica, International Journal of African Renaissance Studies. He also does moderation and external examination of theses and dissertations for the following universities: North West University – (Vaal Triangle), University of Fort Hare, Stellenbosch University, University of Western Cape and University of KwaZulu Natal.

Research Intrest

Dr Tshiyoyo has interest in the following fields of research: theories of public management and administration, leadership and governance, organisational development, public financial management and international administration
