Biography

Michal Niemoczynski is a hydrologic technician with the USGS New Jersey Water Science Center. Michal graduated Summa Cum Laude from East Stroudsburg University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Environmental Science with Geography Minor. He currently works with the Hydrologic Data Assessment Program (HDAP) and is primarily involved in the realm of surface water data collection, analysis, and dissemination. Michal serves as the lead for New Jersey’s cooperative Bridge Scour program with the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Recently, he has been working on creating flood inundation maps for urban stream reaches in New Jersey prone to severe flooding using 1D hydraulic modeling. Michal is also a certified MOCC instructor and holds his United States Coast Guard Near Coastal OUPV Captain's License. He has worked extensively on the construction and operation of the flow monitoring gages on the Barnegat Bay estuary in New Jersey. Michal has been an active member of the former CHIDER (Committee for Hydrologic Instrumentation and Data Eastern Region) since 2012.
