Born in Kilis in 1980, Prof. Mercimek completed his secondary schooling at Kilis Hacı Mehmet Koçarslan Anatolian High School before graduating from Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical School in 2005. From 2005 to 2011 he remained at the same university and completed his specialist training in urology. In 2011 he passed the European Board of Urology diploma examination in Warsaw, awarding him the title Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU). In 2012 he took part in advanced urological laparoscopy training at the Victor Babes University of Medicine in Timisoara, Romania, organized by the EAU Section of Uroâ€Technology (ESUT), and also at the SLK Kliniken in Heilbronn, Germany. From 2011 to 2013 he worked as a urologist at Tokat Erbaa State Hospital and Ordu State Hospital and since 2014 he has been working at the private Sani KonukoÄŸlu Hospital as a urologist. Prof. Mercimek, who is married, is an assistant professor of urology at SANKO University Medical School.
