Biography

Melissa L. Zwart has been a licensed marriage and family therapist since October 2003, and is in private practice with offices in Chino and Orange, California. Melissa specializes in trauma work with troubled teens, children, and pastors’ families, but her practice includes individual and couple therapy as well. Melissa’s approach to understanding pathology and healing comes from an object relations/attachment perspective. She has specialized training in play therapy, relational hypnosis, EMDR, and Splankna therapy. In addition to direct clinical work with clients, Zwart has a passion to train up quality, competent therapists and therefore has served as supervisor in individual and group settings. Melissa also enjoys teaching through Azusa Pacific University, where her vast experience can aid students in their developmental process of becoming the clinicians God has called them to be. Additionally, Zwart is the director of training for APU’s Orange County Regional Center. It has been her honor to serve God and partner with Him in a variety of capacities to further the Kingdom for His glory!
