Biography

Md. Jahurul Islam started teaching at JU as a Lecturer in the Department of English in 2009. Before joining JU, he served Comilla University as a Lecturer in the Department of English. He completed his BA (Hons) and Master's degree in English from Jahangirnagar University, and took his second Master's in Linguistics at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA in 2014 under Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship. He also took an Master of Science degree in Linguistics from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, USA in 2017. Presently, Mr. Islam is engaged in Doctoral studies in Linguistics at the same university. Research interests of Mr. Islam include Acoustic and Articulatory Phonetics, Phonology, Laboratory Phonology, Sociophonetics, Quantitative Sociolinguistics, Language Variation, and related aspects.
