Marie Killeen is an assistant professor within the department of York University. He received his PhD from Toronto University. His research interest is the elucidation of the molecules and mechanisms involved in the establishment of a functional nervous system during development. His group is using the microscopic nematode C. elegans as an animal model to find new axon outgrowth and guidance molecules and to understand their functions in both worms and higher organisms using tools that include genetics, molecular biology, microscopy and biochemistry.
