Associate Professor, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Federal University of Minas Gerais. He completed his postdoctoral studies at the National School of Public Health of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal, in 2012/2013. He completed his Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of São Paulo (2002), the Master's degree in Administration from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1993) and the Graduate Program in Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1983). Researcher of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development and of the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Minas Gerais (PPM). Full Advisor and member of the Postgraduate Program in Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine of UFMG and of the Postgraduate Program in Medications and Pharmaceutical Assistance of the Faculty of Pharmacy of UFMG. Member of the Post-Graduation Committee on Public Health of the Coordination for Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), Policy, Planning and Health Management Committee of the Brazilian Association of Postgraduate in Public Health (ABRASCO) and Vice Leader and Co-coordinator of the Research Group on Health Economics at UFMG (GPES / UFMG). Institutional representative of the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine of UFMG at REBRATS - Brazilian Network of Health Technology Assessment. He works in the area of Collective Health, with emphasis on health economics and evaluation of technology and health services, focusing mainly on the following topics : chronic diseases, inequality in access, pharmacoeconomics and use of health services.
