A career in fashion design spanning twenty years has seen Maria working internationally for luxury labels in Europe and the Far East including Ferre, Moschino and Industria as womenswear and menswear senior designer and design director. Working closely with creative and marketing directors she has also contributed to styling, digital marketing, PR and promotion for fashion brand development on a consultancy basis, including design for range and brand development within the UK high street for retailers such as Designers at Debenhams, Oasis and Episode.
Research areas have focused on the relationship of Fashion and dress to embodiment and the construct of selfhood, most recently evaluating the potential role of creative choice in fashion and textile design and styling for wellness. Â Embodiment and it's context to dress and social construct also been evaluated with regard to sustainability and supply chain production methodologies within a global Fashion context
