Professor Mansour Moniri is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He was awarded R. O. Dunmore prize in 1985 and IEE Award in 1986. His industrial KTP project entered among the top three in Engineer Technology & Innovation Awards 2009. During his early career he worked as a researcher with INMOS Ltd on developing computer based testing systems for data converters. He was the principal investigator and co-inventor of the patented Spectral 360® (US patent 2015), an Adaptive Video Analytics algorithm used in surveillance applications. He has a multidisciplinary academic background covering Computing and Engineering fields. His research focuses on the development and implementation of digital data processing systems including signals, images, video and other forms of data. He was a consultant to six International Oil Companies and conducted research projects with BMW and Alstom Ltd. He held a number of University positions including Head of Digital Processing Technology Research Group, Director of Technology Research Institute, Director of research and postgraduate studies, Faculty Head of Research and Head of the School of Engineering at Staffordshire University. He is currently Director of Research in the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering at the University of East London.
