Luiz Ricardo Goulart Filho holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Education of Machado and a degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Lavras (1984), a Masters in Genetics from Purdue University (1987), a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Purdue University (1990), a postdoctoral degree in Molecular Pathology A Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University (1999) and a postdoctoral fellow in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of California Davis (2010), where she also served as Visiting Professor (2010-2012). He is currently Full Professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia (since 1992) and Adjunct Professor at the Dept. of Medical Microbiology and Immunology of the University of California-Davis, USA (since 2013). He has experience in the areas of Molecular Biology and Nanotechnology, with applications for human and animal health. He is coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Teranóstica and Nanobiotecnologia, a nucleus of excellence that includes 14 Federal Institutions, 29 Laboratories, 12 foreign institutions and 11 companies, financed by CNPq, FAPEMIG, CAPES and FINEP. It participates in the following research networks: Brazilian Cancer Research Network, Mineira Network of Applied Biotechnology to Agropecuaria, Mineira Network of Genomes, Research Network on Dengue, Research Network on Human and Animal Infectious Diseases in the State of Minas Gerais and National Reference Center on Leprosy and Sanitary Dermatoses. He holds a PQ-1B grant from CNPq, served as a member of the Multidisciplinary Advisory Committees and the Presidency of CNPq and the Advisory Committee of FINEP's CT-INFRA.
