Biography

Levon H. Abrahamyan is Candidate of History, Professor, NAS RA Academician | Chair of Archeology and Ethnography Education Yerevan State University (Dept. Physics, M.Sc., 1970) Institute of Ethnography, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Moscow (Cultural Anthropology, Ph.D., 1978). Professional experience Since 1978: works at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, as a researcher, presently heads the Department of Contemporary Anthropological Studies at the same Institute. Since 1990: teaches different courses of anthropology at the Yerevan State University. Has taught also at the University of Pittsburgh (Visiting Professor, Department of Anthropology, 1994), University of California at Berkeley (Visiting Professor, Department of Anthropology, and William Saroyan Professor of Armenian Studies, 1997), Columbia University (Visiting Professor, Department of Middle East and Asian Languages and Cultures, 2001), and University of California at Los Angeles (Visiting Professor, Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, 2008).
