He is graduated from Seoul National University and has done his training at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH). He has been the clinical instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and is currently the professor at Seoul National University College of Medicine. He was also the Head of the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Internal Medicine at SNUH (2000-2004) as well as the Director of the Dialysis Center at SNUH (1996-2004). His field of medical practice is as follows: 1. Treatment and diagnosis of dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, acid-base metabolic disorder which are sever problems in critical care patients and emergency patients; as well as the fundamental of fluid therapy diagnosis and treatment. 2. The technique for diagnosis as well as the fundamentals of treatment for Fanconi Syndrome, renal tubular acidosis, Gitelaman Syndrome, Gordon Syndrome, Liddle Syndrome, nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, etc., which have not been yet investigated in Korea. His research is mainly focused on the physiology of kidney, which absorbs the necessary fluids the body requires and removes the waste or toxic materials out. Based on this mechanism, he is actively researching on control mechanism of the renal transporter for patients with fluid, electrolyte or acid-base metabolic disorders as well as in animal models He is graduated from Seoul National University and has done his training at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH).
