Kukkamalla Anand is at present working as a Selection Grade Lecturer in Microbiology; Department of Microbiology, Melaka Manipal Medical College (Manipal Campus), Manipal. Prior to joining MMMC, he was working as a lecturer in Oxford Dental College, Bangalore. He has successfully completed the FAIMER fellowship in 2012. The project was “Evolving a training program for PBL tutors at MMMC for enhancing their facilitation skills”. He have been actively involved in teaching Medical Microbiology for the past 17 years, handling administrative responsibilities (both institution as well as University level) pertaining to student affairs, hostels (Warden for over 15 years), admissions process, examination process and faculty advisor of Student Council, Magazine committee. He has been involved with the activities of the Manipal Centre for Personal and Professional Development (MCPD), Manipal University, Manipal as a member and resource person. He has conducted many workshops on mentoring, time management, PBL and PBL facilitation. He conducts the PBL orientation and PBL facilitation at MMMC. He has been a mentor since 1998 to the medical as well as dental students. He has attended an elaborate five day workshop on Pedogogy & Personal development and also Student evaluation workshop (5 day) organized by the Department of Medical Education, K.M.C, Manipal. He has also participated in a training program” FEEL TEACHER” conducted by the CLHRD, AIM INSIGHTS group, Mangalore. He has published articles on Self Directed Learning (SDL) strategies in Microbiology, Pathway MCQs in Microbiology, PBL facilitation skills, Designing PBL problems and articles in Microbiology. His interest in medical education include PBL/CBL, assessment, effective learning strategies among students. He is an ardent lover of music, interested in playing games, watching movies, reading books (novels), making new friends and travelling and visiting different places of the world.
