Kevin Smets studied at the University of Antwerp on film culture in Turkish and Moroccan communities. He is currently postdoctoral researcher of the FWO at the Department of Communication Sciences at the University of Antwerp, and part-time lecturer at the Department of Communication Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His research focuses mainly on media and transnationalism, migration, cultural studies and ethnicity, mainly in relation to the Middle East and the Arab world.
