Kareshma joined the University of Natal, Medical School in Jan 1999 as an In -service trainee at the Department of Microbiology. She obtained her National Diploma in Biotechnology at ML Sultan Technikon at the end of 1999. In 2001 she completed her BMed Sci Hons at UKZN with majors in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. She is currently doing her Masters in Medical Sciences entitled 'Genetic basis of Steroid Resistant Nephrotic Syndrome in Indian and Black children in South Africa'. Kareshma has worked on several research projects including WHO driven trials. She is employed with us as a Research Manager overseeing all environmental projects within the department. She is currently heading up the 'BIRTH COHORT' study in the Department. Kareshma has received grants from the following funders for her masters project: Medical Research Council 2006, National Research Foundation 2006, David Hepburn Award 2006, National Kidney Foundation 2007
Microbiology and Molecular Biology.
