Kahraman Åžakul graduated from the Department of History at BoÄŸaziçi University (1994-1999); from 1999 to 2001 he completed his post-graduate degree in the same department. He completed his doctorate at the History Department of Georgetown University with his thesis entitled “An Ottoman Global Moment: War of Second Coalition in the Levant” (2009). He joined the staff at Istanbul Åžehir University in 2010. He has worked as a temporary director of the Georgetown University McGhee East Mediterranean Research Center in Alanya (2010). His field of research covers the military and technological characteristics of the Ottoman reforms during the period ranging from 1774 to 1826 and the Ottoman political culture.
