Biography

  Jose Lopez, MD, is Chief of the Emergency Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where he leads a team focused on providing emergency services around the clock to patients with serious illnesses or injuries requiring immediate attention. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Lopez held a series of roles over an 11-year career with MedStar Health, including the role of Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at MedStar Harbor Hospital and Director of Quality at MedStar Franklin Square in Baltimore, Maryland, US. In 2008, Dr. Lopez took a sabbatical to Doha, Qatar to serve as a consultant physician for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s International Division, where he gained regional experience as an Emergency Medicine consultant. Dr. Lopez graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Community Health. He received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed his Emergency Medicine residency training there, serving as Chief Resident in his final year of residency. In 2011, he completed an MBA in Medical Service Management from Johns Hopkins University.
