Jonathan Nelson received his Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of Washington. His research work focuses on flow, sediment transport, and morphodynamics in rivers, with particular emphasis on the mechanics of bars and bedforms. H is currently Chief of the Environmental Fluid Dynamics Project and the Geomorphology and Sediment Transport Laboratory (GSTL) in Golden, Colorado. In addition to carrying out basic and applied research on rivers, his group at GSTL develops, distributes, and provides education for multidimensional modeling codes for river applications.
