Biography

Dr Sammut earned his Doctorate of Finance chiefly investigating small and illiquid frontier equity markets, their connection with traditional and emerging stock market theories and constructing a mathematical model to interpret the relationship. This incursion into stock market territory represents an academic deviation from his professional activity as an accountant and auditor in public practice since 1992. Dr Sammut has held a practicing warrant in Accountancy and Auditing for over twenty five years, is a Fellow Member of the Malta Institute of Accountants and has served on its committee for Continuous Professional Education. He manages his own public practice evolving from a small domestic audit practice into an internationally active financial services office.

Research Intrest

Main specialisations are taxation, banking, asset pricing, market theory and financial interpretation. Dr Sammut is also an accredited member of the panel of arbitrators for Banking, Finance, Accounting and Taxation at the Malta Arbitration Centre.
