Biography

Dr. Joan T. Allatta joins the Fox School from Purdue University, where she was an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management since 2005. Prior to earning her PhD, Dr. Allatta worked at General Electric. Dr. Allatta has earned nine awards and grants, including the Krannert Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher Award in 2009-10, Booz Allen Hamilton/SMS PhD Fellowship in 2004, and three Distinguished Teacher Awards. She has also presented at numerous national and international conferences. Dr. Allatta received her PhD in Strategic Management and Master of Arts in Management and Applied Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. She also holds a Master of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering Systems from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Research Intrest

Her research interests include knowledge networks, organizational capabilities, and communication technologies. Her published papers include “Evolving Communication Patterns in Response to an Acquisition Event,” which appeared in a 2011 edition of the Strategic Management Journal, and she has more works in progress.
