Biography

Jens works at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) since September 2015. His research focusses on the application of various social media in flood risk modelling, (near-)real time flood modelling and flood predictions. The research is conducted under the supervision of Dr Brenden Jongman, Dr Hans de Moel and Prof. Jeroen Aerts. Prior to starting at the IVM, Jens completed a BSc in Earth Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a MSc Earth Surface and Water at Utrecht University in Utrecht. He focused on large scale hydrological modelling and societal impact. He graduated with a MSc Thesis on non-renewable groundwater and the impact on global food security towards 2050. Expertise Hydrological modelling, geostatistics, natural hazards, risk assessments.
