Biography

Dr. Berger is Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at The GW Medical Faculty Associates. He completed his medical degree and residency training in New York where he was affiliated with The University of Rochester School of Medicine and The New York Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center. After completing his residency in 2005, Dr. Berger became a faculty member at New York University – Langone Medical Center, Tisch Hospital. He was awarded the prestigious Teacher of the Year award in 2006 and in 2007 he was given a Distinguished Educator honor. Dr. Berger completed a Masters in Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business with a focus on Management in 2007. He is actively involved in leadership within the Department as Director of the Residency Training Program and Director of Obstetric Anesthesiology. Dr. Berger was recently appointed Physician Advisor to the International Medical Programs for the University. Dr. Berger has numerous local and national affiliations with anesthesiology societies including the ASA, SAAA, SEA, SOAP, and DCSA. He has led workshops on education, negotiation strategy, innovation, and website development at national forums. He is President-Elect of the District of Columbia Society of Anesthesiologists and a member of three committees for the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Berger is a published author and has several on-going investigations in the areas of: Resident Education, Regional & Obstetric Anesthesiology, and Practice Management. Dr. Berger has been an Invited Lecturer at numerous academic institutions around the country on topics including: Current Trends in Obstetric Anesthesiology and Quality Assurance in Anesthesia.
