Biography

Born in 1965 in Vilvorde (Brabant, Belgium). Research and Teaching Assistant at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (1990-1992 and 1993-1999) and at the Royal Military Academy (Brussels, 1992-1993). Research stay in Geneva (HEC) in 1994 (joint publications with Denis Rochat) and Postdoc in Oxford (under the supervision of K. Mayhew, Pembroke College and M. Stevens, Trinity College). Tenured Associate Professor at Université Libre de Bruxelles in 1999. Professor of Economics and History of Economic Thought at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management , the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sciences Po Bruxelles and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (Department of History) of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (since 2006). Visiting professor in several places (Novosibirsk, 2006; Sofia - IFAG from 2005 to 2008...). Associate research fellow of SKOPE (a centre on Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Perfomance, University of Oxford) since 1998. Associate Member of BETA (Université Louis Pasteur Strasbourg – France) since 2008. Co-founder and co-editor of Cliometrica – A Journal of Historical Economics and Econometric History (Springer Verlag) in 2007. Author of several publications in Economics (Economics of Education Review, Applied Economics, Journal of Macroeconomics…), History (Historical Social Research/Historische Sozialforschung...) and Education Studies (Compare, European Journal of Educational Research...). Member of the editorial board of Brussels Economics Review and of Année Sociale . Member of of the Scientific Board of the Executive Master in Contemporary International Politics and Security Studies (Université Libre de Bruxelles/Sciences Po Bruxelles).
