Jayson turned to ordained ministry after a career in broadcast journalism involving radio and television and then as a Communications Manager for the New Zealand Police.In the College Jayson teaches Communications and Pastoral Papers as well as being Coordinator of Supervised Practice working students placed in ministry units in the Diocese of Auckland. Jayson is Priest Assistant at Holy Trinty Cathedral and advises dioceses and as the Primates on media and communications. He is currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Practical Theology through the Cambridge Theological Federation and Anglia Ruskin University. The doctoral thesis questions the concept of the public square as a place for the church to engage with media and whether the church needs to tell its own mission and ministry rather than rely on the public square to do the task of communication
