Biography

JASON CAVATORTA is President and Plant Breeder at University of Central Florida. RESEARCH Dr. Cavatorta holds an MS (2006) and PhD (2010) in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Cornell University and is currently President and Plant Breeder at EarthWork Seeds Inc., a small vegetable germplasm development company based in nearby Oviedo. Dr. Cavatorta uses traditional plant breeding methods, aided with molecular markers, to develop and produce new vegetable cultivars with improved quality (taste, appearance, texture) and agronomic performance (yield, disease resistance, stress tolerance).

Research Intrest
