Biography

Jarkko Saarinen is an Extraordinary Professor at the Division Tourism Management, Department of Marketing Management. He is a Professor of Human Geography at the University of Oulu, Finland. His role at the University of Pretoria is supervising master and doctoral students and research collaboration. His recent publications include co-edited books: Political Ecology and Tourism (2016), Cultural Tourism in Southern Africa (2016) and Tourism Planning and Development (forthcoming).

Research Intrest

 His own research interest include tourism development and management, sustainability and responsibility in tourism, tourism-community relations, tourism and climate change, nature-based tourism and conservation issues.
