Dr. Jan Talley is a Research Analyst and Assistant Professor of Behavioral Health at Kansas City University of Medicine and Basic Sciences. She has completed her PhD in Psychology, University of Kansas, 2010, MA in Psychology, University of Kansas, 1998, MSW in Social Work, Syracuse University, 1975 and B.A. in Psychology, Syracuse University, 1970. Her Teaching Interests include Scientific Writing and Research Methodology. Research interests include Empowerment Evaluation Methodology, Participatory Medicine, Lipid Levels and Depression in Children and Adolescents, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Self Management of Chronic Disease. She has received several grants/fundings for Evaluation of the Efficacy of the One Minute Preceptor Model to Teach Clinical Diagnosis to Medical Students, Evaluation of Score 1 for Health Program, Increase in Medication Regimen Compliance for In-patient Adolescents Diagnosed with PTSD and Randomized Controlled Trial of Osmotic-Release Methylphenidate (OROS-MPH) for ADHD. She is affilated with National Organization of Research Development Professionals from 03/2013 - Present. Member 3/1/2010 - Present, National Museum for Women in the Arts. Dr. Talley has spent the last 18 years monitoring, evaluating and administering program evaluations for health initiatives in the Greater Kansas City metroplex. Dr. Talley also monitored the outcomes for over 60 agencies who received public funding for the provision of mental health services in Jackson County. Her paper presentations at national and international conferences have addressed health issues for the underserved and the chronically ill. Dr. Talley has provided reliability measures for fidelity to the protocol for a National Institute on Drug Abuse study in her role as project manager. She has also provided reliability ratings for measures used in several studies while participating in research at the Crittenton Children’s Center as well as at KCUMB.
