Biography

Jamshaid Rashid obtained his Ph.D. from Department of Environmental Sciences, King Abdulaziz University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He currently holds as an Assistance Professor in Department of Environmental Sciences at Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. His research interest follows Heterogeneous catalysis for environmental remediation, Photocatalysis for water and air decontamination, Nanomaterial synthesis and characterization, Steam reforming of methane to produce H2 via syngas production, Adsorptive removal of organic and inorganic pollutants from wastewater, The research focus of Catalysis for Environment and Energy Research Group is on development of novel, sunlight active and environmental friendly nanomaterial catalysts for advance wastewater treatment of toxic, recalcitrant and emerging contaminants in wastewater, Semiconductor materials and Metal oxide Nano composites (e.g., InVO4/TiO2, Ag/ZnO, Fe3O4/Al2O3/TiO2) as well as supported thin films are synthesized and evaluated for visible/sunlight photo catalytic treatment of waste water. The nanomaterial are tailored to overcome catalyst agglomeration, post operation recovery and reuse with special focus on enhanced visible light activity by reducing the energy band gap and electron-hole pair (e-/h+) recombination.

Research Intrest

Heterogeneous catalysis for environmental remediation, Photocatalysis for water and air decontamination, Nanomaterial synthesis and characterization, Steam reforming of methane to produce H2 via syngas production, Adsorptive removal of organic and inorganic pollutants from wastewater
