Biography

She is a Senior Lecturer in Information Sciences at the iSchool of Northumbria University . Her research publications cross a number of interdisciplinary boundaries between education, personal development, psychology and employability. Her recent publications look at engagement of HE students in developing their employability skills and attributes. At Northumbria University she has been instrumental in developing an approach to embed employability within a constructively re-aligned curriculum within the Information Sciences department for undergraduate students and this has contributed to the overall improvement of the student experience. She has been involved in a number of collaborative research projects relating to Personal Development Planning (PDP) and Employability, and contributed to a number of national and international conferences, including EARLI SIG International Conference in UK and Germany, JISC research into eportfolios, ISSoTL conference, Canada, Assessment in HE conference, Carlisle. In addition, she was involved with the ELLI Research Project (Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory) and part of the International Coalition into eportfolio research. Jackie Adamson is currently a Programme Leader for the MSc BISM (Business Information Systems Management) programme and is also Dissertations Tutor for the group. She works across all undergraduate years and is developing a research thread to follow through from levels 4 to 6 that encompasses PDP and Employability. She has recently submitted her PhD, the title for which is “A Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Approach to Deliver Employability Effectively to Undergraduate Information Systems Students. An IPA (Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis) Study”, and is awaiting examination and subsequent results for this.
