Dr. Jack B. Rasmussen specializes in the genetics and molecular biology of plant disease and plant disease resistance. His basic research focuses on the mode of action and role in disease of pathogen-produced toxins associated with tan spot of wheat. His applied work centers on the genetics of resistance to wheat leaf rust. Dr. Rasmussen received his Ph.D. degree in 1987 from Michigan State University. He is assisted in the greenhouse and laboratory by Jim Jordahl. Dr. Rasmussen teaches Introductory Plant Pathology each fall semester.
