Jacinta Sanchez Pelayo holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Microbiology) from the University of São Paulo (1997). He holds a PhD in Biological Sciences (specialization in Clinical Analysis) from the State University of Londrina (1982) ). She is currently Associate Professor B at the State University of Londrina. She teaches both undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Microbiology. She was coordinator of the Post-Graduation Program in Microbiology from 2003 to 2007. During this same period, she was a research productivity fellow at CNPq. She has experience in Epidemiology, Physiology and Genetics, with emphasis on research on virulence factors in bacteria, working mainly on the following topics: research of bacteria isolated from the environment and medical clinic. It works mainly by investigating virulence factors of microorganisms such as: Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella sp, Pseudomonas sp, Staphylococcus sp, Plesiomonas shigeloides.
