Biography

My name is Ioane Malaki and I am the Course Coordinator for AG134, AG383 and AG384. I attended USP’s School of Agriculture and Food Technology (SAFT) in 1991 and graduated with the Bachelor of Agriculture (BAgr) in 1993 followed by the Postgraduate Diploma in Agriculture (PDipTAg) in 1995 and the Master in Agriculture (MAgr) in 1997. I have been teaching in the discipline of Agricultural Engineering at SAFT since 1994, first as a temporary lecturer and then as the Tutor in Agricultural Engineering from 1998 to February 2016. Research Intrest

Food security in relation to mitigation measures against cyclone damage in connection with climate change, effects of delayed harvesting of simulated cyclone injured taro (Colocasia esculenta var esculenta) on corm edible mass, rot percentage and eating quality and similar projects on Tannia (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) and Giant Taro (Alocasia macrorhiza).
