Agana is an academician and an entrepreneur. She acquired a Doctoral Degree in Business Administration (DBA) at Lyceum-Northwestern University, Philippines. Her Educational research entitled "The Role of Private Universities in Enhancing SMEs in the Kingdom of Bahrain" aligning with the Bahrain Vision 2030 which aims to develop employable skills for Bahrainis and encourage entrepreneurship, the way to depart from oil dependency. Her extensive experience in academia and industry honed her knowledge and skills to be able to share sustainably in pursuit to economic development.

Dr. Ilene has developed her own business to practice what she teaches and entwines, by providing effective teaching, mentoring, counselling and consultancy. This is a profession in a loop.
