Prof Hoffie Cruywagen  [BSc Quantity Surveying, MSc Quantity Surveying, PhD (UP), PrQS] was appointed as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Construction Economics in 2001, and as a senior lecturer in 2007. Previously, he worked for various quantity surveying firms in South Africa, among others as Chief Quantity Surveyor of the Durban Metro Council. He served on various professional committees, such as the Registration Committee of the South African Council and Contract Price Adjustment Provision Committee of ASAQS. He is author and co-author of a number of peer-reviewed academic papers and has presented papers at national and international congresses. Prizes and awards he has received include the Tobie Louw bursary for postgraduate studies from ASAQS.
