Wallberg earned her medical and doctoral degrees at Karolinska Institutet. In 1998, she was appointed Professor of Physiology and from 1999 to 2001 she served as the university’s Dean of Research. She has served as the Secretary General of the Scientific Council for Medicine at the Swedish Research Council, and as University Chancellor and Head of the Swedish Higher Education Authority.
Wallberg research interest is in type 2 diabetes and endocrine disorders.
