Biography

Hans Juergen Boehmer is a biogeographer and vegetation ecologist with a research focus on long-term vegetation dynamics, particularly on the complex interactions of natural and human-induced vegetation dynamics, disturbance regimes, biological invasions, and climate change. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and is also first author of Germany’s national report on invasive alien species to the SCBD (2001). His recent publications include works on plant diversity and dynamics of tropical montane rain forests in Hawaii and East Africa, the functional connectivity of calcareous grasslands in Central Europe (process-based evaluation of ecological networks), and the consequences of biological invasions.
