Biography

Matriculated in 1994 and thereafter commenced nurse training at RK Khan Hospital in 1997. During my student years I held many leadership responsibilities such as class leader and student representative council exco. Member.I completed the 4 year training in 2000 and worked in the maternity department since. In 2005, I applied for an advanced diploma in Midwifery and neonatal nursing science. I completed Advanced Midwifery in 2006 and was thereafter successful in obtaining a post as a midwifery clinical facilitator at R.K. Khan Hospital. During that time, I found that teaching students in the clinical area was my passion. I conducted in-service training sessions (PMTCT, Neonatal resuscitation, Labour graph, etc) at the institution and also conducted the 20 hr Mother and Baby friendly Initiative at RKKhan Hospital. I was also involved in student evaluations such as Procedure evaluations, Clinical examinations and/or OSCE. In 2012- 2013, I assisted as a Master Trainer in the ESMOE programme at RKKH. I completed a degree in nursing administration and nursing education at North West University in June 2013. I then joined the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Howard College Campus, School of Nursing and Public Health, on the 01 October 2014 as a tutor /clinical facilitator. I am currently looking forward to complete a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
