Born in July 1979 in Gaziantep, Prof. Göymen was the top-scoring student in his Gaziantep primary and middle school, and the top-scoring high school student in the province of Gaziantep, securing him a place at Ä°stanbul University Medical School. He graduated from medical school in 2003 with the second highest score and in the same year sat his medical specialty examinations (TUS). Ranking high in the national scores, he gained a place at Ä°stanbul University CerrahpaÅŸa Medical School to study obstetrics and gynecology. After qualifying in 2008, he first completed his military service at HaydarpaÅŸa GATA, and then started his compulsory service in his home city of Gaziantep at the Cengiz Gökçek Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. In 2012 he began to work as a specialist at the private Sani KonukoÄŸlu Hospital. Since May 2014 Prof. Göymen has been working at SANKO University as assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology. His main area of professional interest is urogynecology and he has one of the largest case series within this field in the region. His other areas of interest are assisted reproductive technology (ART) methods, laparoscopy and hysteroscopy procedures, and the use of interventional procedures (amniocentesis, CVS) in high-risk pregnancies (perinatology), a field in which he has conducted many research studies. Prof. Göymen is married, has a good command of English, and is a keen Galatasaray supporter.
