Biography

She holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1988), a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Immunology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1992), and a PhD in Biochemistry and Immunology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1996). She served as Sub-coordinator and later Coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Bioinformatics at UFMG (2005-2009), Sub-coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biochemistry and Immunology at UFMG (2010-2013) and Vice President and later President of the Brazilian Association of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology - AB3C (2012-2016). He coordinated two Extension Courses (Lato sensu) in Bioinformatics at UFMG (2007 and 2015). She is currently Full Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, acting as director of the Postgraduate Programs in Biochemistry and Immunology and Bioinformatics and an alternate member of the Postgraduate Board and Research and Extension Teaching Council ( CEPE) of UFMG. She is a consultant to the CNPq, CAPES and FAPEMIG agencies. He has experience in the field of Biochemistry, with emphasis in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, working mainly in the following subjects: genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, bioinformatic analysis of DNA and RNA sequences, functional gene studies, differential gene expression analysis by microarrays and RNASeq and proteomic analyzes. acting as director of the Postgraduate Programs in Biochemistry and Immunology and Bioinformatics and an alternate member of the Postgraduate Chamber and the Research and Extension Teaching Council (CEPE) of UFMG.
