Biography

Dr. Gheorghita (Georgie) Faitar began teaching at D’Youville in the Fall of 2006, after earning her Ph.D. in Social Foundations of Education with a concentration in International Comparative Education. As a graduate student, she was a member of the International Comparative Higher Education Finance and Accessibility Project, a Ford Foundation research initiative led by Professor Bruce Johnstone (SUNY at Buffalo). At D’Youville College, Dr. Faitar teaches graduate education courses in “Multiculturalism and Cultural Diversity," “Philosophical and Social Foundations of Educations," and “Secondary School Methods in Science." She has also taught “Sociolinguistics and Culture” as part of the TESOL program.

Research Intrest

Dr. Gheorghita Faitar continues to be interested in research projects focused on international comparative education. In addition, her research interests include multiculturalism, diversity and social justice, science education, and sociolinguistics. She is frequently invited to present the results of her studies at prestigious scientific conferences in the U.S. and Europe (Paris 2012, Rome 2013, Vienna 2014).
