Born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., the focus of Dr. Stephen's work is the study of how dietary fat affects the structure and function of murine and human lymphocytes.After receiving his PhD, Dr. Stephen served as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at SUNY/Buffalo researching biomarkers of exposure to and effect of dioxin in lymphocytes. He left academia for a position in private industry at Ecology and Environment, Inc. in Lancaster, N.Y. During his time there, he worked on various projects including responses to Ground Zero in New York City, the anthrax outbreak in the Capital Building and helped design the company’s emergency response plan to Hurricane Katrina and eventually spent six weeks in Louisiana responding to the disaster. Dr. Stephen returned to academia and joined the D’Youville faculty in 2006. In his private time, he is an avid long distance runner and curler, Boy Scout leader, husband and dad.
