Professor Armmer came to Bradley University in 1990. Prior to joining the Department of Nursing faculty, she taught for 16 years at Vincennes University. Throughout her professional career she has collaborated with nursing colleagues in Illinois and throughout the nation in the development of state-funded research projects, the establishment of a support group for African-American Nurse Administrators, and the exploration of funding for health care to underserved populations and diverse minority populations. Professor Armmer has maintained consultation availability and has assisted nursing programs with challenges of accreditation and challenges with administrative and progression issues. She has also served as president of the Illinois Association of Colleges of Nursing and president of Epsilon Epsilon chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Dr. Armmer has collaborated with nursing and non-nursing colleagues in the sharing of scholarly materials; including most recently a successful series of faculty development conferences designed to strengthen the beginning faculty member. Research interests include: workplace violence, leadership transitions in health care, healthcare to minority and underserved populations, and nursing student perceptions on research and evidence-based practice. Dr. Armmer has received numerous awards for her service to the community. She continues to serve on the Board of Directors for a senior housing community, as President of a well-established community musical ensemble, and holds leadership positions on local, regional, and national levels of the National Congress of Christian Education of the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A. Inc.
