Alvisi had degree with praise in Geological Sciences, (1988), PhD in Earth Sciences (1993) at the University of Bologna. Researcher at CNR since 2004 at the Institute of Marine Sciences in Bologna. It has been dealing with about ten years of sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochemistry and palinology of alluvial sequences and lakes for paleo-environmental and paleoclimatic reconstructions. In 1996 he began collaborating with the CNR, studying marine-coastal environments and continental shelf. He is currently interested in the study of marine sedimentation phenomena at the water-sediment interface, biogeochemical streams, current and recent marine sediment processes and their interaction with humans and climate.
