Ferhat Kentel is a faculty member of the Department of Sociology. He received his BA of Management from Middle-East Technical University (1981), his MA of Political Science and Public Administration from Ankara University (1983) and his PhD of Sociology from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris (1989). He taught at the French language Department of Public Administration of Marmara University and at the Department of Sociology of Istanbul Bilgi University. His research areas include modernity, everyday life, new social movements, religion, Islamic movements and ethnic communities.
