Biography

Professor Elsabe Kearsley graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pretoria and she holds a PhD from the University of Leeds. After working as structural engineer in both South Africa and the UK, she became a staff member of the University of Pretoria in 1990. In 2009 she was the president of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE). For the last 20 years she has been involved with cement and concrete materials research. Her research interests include reducing the environmental impact of concrete used for infrastructure development. Projects include soil structure interaction projects as well as the use of lightweight concrete, fibre reinforced concrete, ultra high strength concrete, recycled aggregates and waste materials in cement and concrete.

Research Intrest

Fields of interest are Laboratory testing, Measuring techniques, Full scale testing, Structural Engineering, Pavement Engineering and Building Materials.
