Biography

B.A. Mathematics, University of Rochester, 1972 M.Ed. Counseling Psychology, Antioch University, 1975 Ed.D. Counseling Psychology, Boston University, 1984 Dr. Balis is a psychodynamically-oriented psychotherapist whose work is enriched by EMDR, psychodrama, and thirty years of meditation. She began her training in feminist and humanistic-expressive therapy before becoming more deeply interested in a relational psychoanalytic approach. For the five years between receiving her master's degree and beginning doctoral studies, her clinical work focused on adolescents and families dealing with issues of child sexual abuse.

Research Intrest

Relational Psychoanalytic , clinical work, teaching, and writing articles on meditation and spiritual practice as well as fiction.
