In 2000, he was awarded the V Brazil Prize for Economics, as the first one in the PhD thesis category. Researcher of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development and the State of Minas Gerais Research Support Foundation (PPM) Full Advisor and member of the Postgraduate Program in Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine of UFMG and of the Program of Post PhD in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Assistance at the Faculty of Pharmacy of UFMG. Vice-coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, UFMG; Institutional representative of the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine of the UFMG in REBRATS - Brazilian Network for Health Technology Assessment. Member of the Technical Committee of Budget and Financing of the National Health Council - Ministry of Health; Vice President of the Brazilian Association of Public Health - ABRASCO (Management 2012-2015 and 2015-2018), Leader of the Research Group on Health Economics - GPES - UFMG since 2004. He works in the area of ​​Collective Health with emphasis on health policy and economics and evaluation of health systems and services.
